When data is ON mostly, we face a network issue and cannot make a call. I faced this issue for the first time on my mobile, which was operating Jazz and Zong SIM cards. My data was on, and I was facing issues from Morning till Evening.
Calling Issue While 4G is ON: What Happened?
When I was making a call to anyone from my Jazz SIM, it showed an error “Network Error”. In the evening, when I went to a small room, and the 4G signals disappeared, I tried to call, and it went through.
This clearly showed that the issue was related to 4G and calling settings.
How to Fix the Issue?
So, how to fix the issue? This question is very important, and if this matches your problem, this should be the best for you. Because you will solve this issue on your mobile phone easily.
- Turn ON the 2G while calling: Try to check the SIM 1 or SIM 2 which have calling issue. Go to the SIM card settings and turn on 2G while calling. This will help you when the signals are weak and unable to make the call.
- Turn OFF the data: This actualy create the issue. When your mobile data is active, but calls fail on 4G, it usually indicates a problem with VoLTE (Voice over LTE). Standard 4G LTE was originally designed for data only, not for calls, so use the 2G instead.
- Enable VoLTE (Voice over LTE): To make calls over 4G, your phone must have VoLTE enabled. Go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Preferred Network Type and ensure VoLTE or 4G Calling is turned ON.
- Set Network Mode to 4G/LTE/3G/2G (auto): Always use the auto settings, which auto-change the network mode from 4G to 2G, and 3G when you make a call. This is the most common issue that people ignore and always face the calling issues.
- Check the Signals in Area: Mostly in Hospitals, Police stations, and near Central Jails; signals may be weak in high-security areas; signals are always blocked by the Govt. Check which SIM is working in this environment, so as to use the dual SIM card.
In Pakistan, as of my experience, Jazz have signals issues near the central jails and other govt agencies. I personally test that Zong always works there,e even Ufone and Telenor also work. If you are a traveller, and you are looking for the best SIM card in Pakistan, I recommend that you use Zong as your priority and Jazz as the backup.
If your SIM card is Telenor or Ufone, don’t worry, these sim cards still work there. Just turn on the Airplane mode for 10 seconds, and turn it back ON. What happened? This forces the phone to search for the network again and often fixes temporary signal problems.

Pro Tip:
If you don’t see the VoLTE option in settings, it could be because your network doesn’t support it or it’s disabled on your phone.
- Dial ##4636## → Go to Phone Information → Scroll down and check if “VoLTE Provisioned” is ON.
- If it’s OFF and the option is available, turn it ON.
